This journal article describes how suicide is a leading cause of death for young people in the US. In July 2022, a new 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline was launched to make it easier for people to get help. Since then, more young people have used the lifeline, but it is still not clear if this has lowered suicide rates among adolescents and young adults.
