This article describes how hospitals can plan for evacuations by focusing on patient needs. It explains that some patients need more help during an evacuation, like those in intensive care or surgery. A study surveyed nurses to understand these needs better. Results showed that nearly half of the patients could walk out, while others needed wheelchairs or stretchers. Most patients understood the need to evacuate, but a few were too sick to move safely. The findings help hospitals prepare resources for safe and efficient evacuations during emergencies.
