About
This white paper describes a survey of hospital emergency departments in Europe, especially France, to see how ready they are to care for children. The study found that most hospitals do not have all the needed equipment, policies, or staff training for pediatric emergencies. Only 13% had all recommended supplies and many lacked plans for mental health or disasters involving children. Hospitals with more child patients were better prepared. Many staff did not know about existing guidelines. It concludes that improving readiness would cost little but needs more effort and awareness from hospitals and leaders.
