About
In July 2022, extreme heat affected many parts of the world, including the U.S., Europe, and Asia. This webpage from NASA describes how high-pressure systems created heat domes in the U.S., leading to record-breaking temperatures and dangerous conditions for millions. The hottest day ever was recorded in the U.K. on July 19. Utah and Oklahoma had long streaks of days over 100°F (38°C). Many areas faced life-threatening heat with some regions experiencing highs above 110°F (43°C). Heat is a major cause of weather-related deaths in the U.S., more than hurricanes or floods.
