Many young children around the world still die from extreme lack of water caused by sudden severe diarrhea. Severe dehydration from diarrhea is a serious condition that needs specific treatment according to guidelines from the World Health Organization. This study looked at the germs that lead to severe dehydration by using information from the Global Enteric Multicenter Study. This will help prepare for prevention of diarrheal illness worldwide.
