About
This article investigates how clinicians communicate with parents about influenza vaccination and the impact of these communication strategies on parental vaccine decision-making. The study involved analyzing recorded health supervision visits between pediatric clinicians and English-speaking parents of young children during specific influenza seasons. Results showed that certain communication behaviors, such as using presumptive recommendations and pursuing recommendations when faced with parental resistance, led to higher parental acceptance of the influenza vaccine. The study suggests that effective communication strategies can positively influence parental vaccine decisions.
