About
This study, conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic, found healthcare providers and laypeople generally agree that scarce resource allocation policies should prioritize saving the most lives. However, they differ slightly in their approaches to achieving this goal. The survey involved 1,545 adults, including 30% healthcare providers, with an average age of 49 years. It revealed that both groups support the idea of saving as many lives as possible, but laypeople showed slightly higher agreement than healthcare providers with the specific policy proposed by the University of California. The study highlights the need for transparency and community involvement in policy-making, ensuring fairness and trust while addressing concerns about equity for marginalized groups.
