About
This study looks at how often and safely patients with acute lower respiratory tract illness were moved between hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic in the US. It describes using data from emergency medical services to compare transport events before and during the pandemic. The findings show no increase in serious health issues during transport, even as more patients were moved in later waves of the pandemic. Ground transports decreased initially but rose later, while air transports increased throughout all waves. The study suggests it is safe to transfer these patients despite rising COVID-19 cases.
