About
This article discusses the development of a self-assessment tool by the Region V for Kids Center of Excellence to enhance pediatric disaster preparedness. Identifying gaps from the National Pediatric Readiness Project, the tool evaluates nine key domains crucial for safeguarding children's care during disasters. Distributed to 24 regional health care coalitions, the tool's effectiveness was assessed through a survey, revealing a 50% response rate and indicating that 40% of respondents were likely to implement changes based on the tool’s findings. The tool was subsequently revised into an expanded web-based version to better support pediatric preparedness and improve outcomes for children and families.
