About
This article examines the challenges of supporting children with medical complexity (CMC) during disasters, as these events can disrupt essential healthcare access. Conducted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the authors performed a rapid scoping review of literature on disaster communication and CMC. They identified four key themes: collaborative planning, proactive outreach, use of social networks, and returning to normal routines. The review highlights the need for proactive engagement, multi-channel communication, and including families and children in disaster planning. Maintaining strong, ongoing relationships between CMC families and healthcare teams can minimize disruptions during crises.Tags
