About
This article highlights the need for guidance on breastfeeding safety after chemical or biological weapon exposure, particularly for women and children in conflict zones. Despite available guidelines on chemical and biological threats, there is little information about when breastfeeding can be safely resumed post-exposure. To address this gap, the Johns Hopkins Center for Humanitarian Health and the Infant Feeding in Emergencies Core Group developed evidence-based guidance. This multidisciplinary effort provides essential information for policymakers, healthcare workers, and emergency planners, ensuring better support for breastfeeding mothers and infants in the context of chemical and biological incidents.
