This article describes a project in New Mexico where nursing programs worked together to teach disaster preparedness using COVID-19 as an example. Students participated in a virtual event on Zoom, simulating emergency response roles. They learned about teamwork and communication but faced challenges with remote learning and understanding their roles. Surveys showed students valued the experience but wanted more guidance. Faculty also provided feedback for improvement, suggesting clearer role definitions and better preparation materials for future events. The project aims to prepare nursing students for real-life disasters by integrating these lessons into their education continuously.
