In California, wildfires have increased, leading to more evacuations and longer shelter stays. Public health nurses (PHNs) face challenges in providing care in shelters. This article describes a partnership between health departments and a university that offers training to improve nurses' disaster response skills, emphasizing the importance of such collaborations for community preparedness.
