About
Monkeypox, a zoonotic disease, first appeared in 1970 in central and western Africa. By May 2022, it had spread to over 96 non-endemic regions, totaling 58,200 cases globally. The cessation of smallpox vaccination in 1980 led to decreased immunity, raising concerns. Recent cases in China highlight the vulnerability of children. An expert consensus, based on international guidelines, aims to enhance pediatricians' knowledge for early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of monkeypox.Tags
