About
This article discusses the implementation of Project DOCC, a curriculum developed by parents of children with disabilities, to educate medical residents on providing care for children with special health care needs. The curriculum focuses on the patient-centered medical home model and incorporates team-based learning in a rural setting. Through pre-workshop readings, in-person workshops, and interactions with parent mentors, learners showed significant improvements in knowledge, perceptions, and comfort levels. The study highlights the positive impact of the adapted curriculum on learner outcomes and emphasizes the importance of compassionate care and effective communication between parents and healthcare providers.
