About
This article describes how 11 hospitals in Los Angeles County prepared for an earthquake drill called "The Great California ShakeOut." The study found that most hospitals did not fully test their ability to care for children during a disaster. Few included children as mock victims, and there was little focus on pediatric needs. The lack of coordination with other community groups was also noted as a problem. It suggests that better planning and teamwork with different community organizations are needed to improve readiness for disasters involving children.
