    About

This article discusses the development of a reunification tool using images to help parents locate missing children after a disaster. The study surveyed emergency management professionals to determine the preferred features of such a tool. Most preferred showing unedited images, even if they included facial trauma, but acknowledged it could be emotionally hard for parents. They favored tools that matched most features of the missing child rather than exact matches. In large-scale disasters, participants accepted lower success rates for reunifications as acceptable. The study highlights the need to balance effectiveness and emotional impact in designing these tools.
