About
This article discusses the challenges children face after experiencing disasters and the mental health interventions developed by researchers and clinicians to address trauma sequelae. While the effectiveness of various interventions has been studied, little research has focused on the individual components of these interventions. A literature review identified nine common components in child disaster mental health interventions, emphasizing the need for future studies to define these components clearly. It is suggested that further research should deconstruct interventions to assess the specific effectiveness of each component and recognize common therapeutic elements. Additionally, considerations for populations studied and intervention delivery are highlighted for future attention.
