About
This article explores challenges paramedics face when triaging children in disasters. It discusses how paramedics struggle due to unfamiliarity with children's physiology, emotional reactions, and difficulties with children who have special health needs. The study involved 34 paramedics using a simulation-based curriculum. Results showed that emotional stress, lack of training, and poor simulation quality are major barriers. Paramedics find it hard to efficiently manage multiple child victims during disasters because of these issues. The study aims to improve disaster response for pediatric patients through better training methods.
