About
This study looks at monkeypox virus (MPXV) in Cameroon from 1979 to 2022. It explains that two types, Clade I and Clade II, are found there. The virus spreads through contact with infected animals or people. The study found more cases since 2018, especially during a big outbreak in 2022. Most cases were in southern Cameroon, where forests make it easier for the virus to spread among animals and humans. Researchers used genetic tests to learn about the virus's history and spread patterns in different regions of Cameroon over time.
