This 2-hour recorded session announces the new Phoenix Pediatric Sepsis Criteria, developed by a task force to better identify sepsis in children. The criteria focus on life-threatening organ dysfunction due to infection and aim to improve diagnosis and treatment. The team used data from over 3 million hospital records worldwide, considering different resources and settings. They chose four key organ systems for their model: cardiovascular, respiratory, coagulation, and neurologic functions. These criteria are designed for global use but are not meant for early screening or predicting sepsis risk before symptoms appear.
