This study evaluated hospital and emergency department (ED) pediatric surge strategies and compliance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines during the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic. Findings showed that many hospitals lacked pandemic plans before the outbreak, with most developing plans in response. Not all institutions fully adhered to CDC guidelines for personal protection, patient testing, and treatment. This suggests the need for more comprehensive surge plans for children based on the survey data.
