About
This study explored factors affecting nurses' readiness to work during disasters. It surveyed 269 registered nurses and found that only 68.7% of nurses are willing to report for duty in such situations, with male nurses more likely than females to do so. Nurses with young children are less likely to work during infectious outbreaks. About one-third of nurses may not report for duty during disasters, highlighting the need for healthcare managers to plan ahead and address reasons for nurses' reluctance to work.
