This article evaluates how often children are used in disaster drills at community hospitals near Cincinnati, Ohio. It shows that most hospitals do not include children in their drills. Hospitals closer to a children's hospital use fewer child patients than those farther away. The study suggests that more effort and resources should be given to help these hospitals prepare for emergencies involving kids. Overall, it highlights the need for better preparation to care for children during disasters at community hospitals.
