About
This article explores factors influencing pediatric healthcare workers' willingness to respond in the event of a disaster. Conducted at a pediatric care hospital in Los Angeles, the study surveyed 877 employees. Results indicate that personal factors such as gender, marital status, number of dependents, and commuting distance impact willingness to respond. Notably, having more dependents decreased willingness, while adequate resources increased it. The study suggests that healthcare facilities should communicate disaster plans effectively and consider provisions for employees' families to enhance staff willingness to respond during emergencies.
