About
This article describes a study on how healthcare providers in the Northwest region of the United States feel about pediatric triage and critical care during disasters. After events like Hurricane Katrina, there was a need for a standard system to decide which children get care first. The study surveyed 116 healthcare workers at a Seattle symposium in 2012. Most responders were nurses and doctors from both pediatric and non-pediatric hospitals. Many agreed that no age group should be prioritized, but opinions varied on using objective scores for triage decisions based on their work location.Tags
