About
This study presents Los Angeles project aimed to improve pediatric surge capacity by identifying gaps, doubling inpatient capacity, and creating a plan. Researchers used surveys and focus groups to gather information from hospitals about their capacity, staff, and supplies. They found that many hospitals lacked enough pediatric beds and trained staff. As a result, they created a plan that increases bed capacity by using different hospitals based on their abilities. This plan helps distribute child patients more effectively during emergency situations affecting children disproportionately.
