About
This document from the Bureau for Global Health provides an overview of the mission of the Global Health Initiative, a mandate from President Obama to invest in global health, via both diplomacy and development work. The document outlines some of the major health issues facing the world, especially concerning HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, neglected tropical diseases, vaccine-preventable diseases, malnutrition, and pregnancy/childbirth issues. A complete listing of targeted issues is listed in an appendix. The document outlines anticipated U.S. spending through 2014 to achieve these goals, and some of the broad measures that will be taken to achieve them. Two appendices illustrate these actions, using Bangladesh and Ethiopia as examples.Tags
