About
This article examines chronic health needs immediately after the 2008 Sichuan earthquake in China. A descriptive study was conducted in an emergency triage clinic, focusing on physical, social, and public health preparedness. Out of 182 evacuees, 54% needed trauma treatment, with 77% of them having underlying chronic medical conditions. The study highlights low tetanus immunization and chronic health medication possession rates, especially among older patients. Chronic health needs played a significant role in emergency care post-disaster, emphasizing the importance of considering demographic and epidemiological profiles for effective post-disaster assistance.
