About
This study investigated how prepared children's summer camps in the United States and Canada are for disasters. It describes a survey sent to 315 camps, with 181 responses received. Many camps lack important emergency supplies like car seats and extra food or water. Some don't have plans for power outages, lockdowns, or severe weather events. Most haven't worked with medical organizations on planning, and many don't have online emergency plans or ways to quickly contact parents during emergencies. The study suggests that more focus is needed on creating specific disaster plans for summer camps.
