The article describes a workshop held in Ottawa, Canada, to talk about how to care for children during radiological or nuclear events. Experts from different fields discussed the strengths and weaknesses of current practices in Canada. They used scenarios involving harmful use of radiological materials to focus on emergency responses for children. The discussions showed that managing children is very different from adults and needs special protocols not yet available in Canadian guidelines. The paper suggests improvements based on these discussions to better handle such situations involving kids.
