About
This article assesses the emergency preparedness of childcare centers in Pennsylvania based on compliance with National Health and Safety Performance Standards. A survey was conducted with 496 child care center administrators to evaluate factors like written emergency plans, staff training in first aid/CPR, and equipment availability. Findings show high compliance with written emergency plans but gaps in specific procedures for various disasters and medical emergencies. Recommendations include more frequent practice of emergency plans, establishment of detailed procedures, availability of necessary medications, and ensuring all staff are trained in first aid and CPR.
