About
This article analyzes families' compliance with national disaster preparedness recommendations by distributing questionnaires in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, and Bronx County, New York. The study found that a low percentage of families were familiar with community evacuation plans and had a family emergency response plan. Only 17% of respondents had discussed preparedness with their primary care physician, but this group showed higher compliance rates. Overall, the data indicates that most families are not meeting national preparedness recommendations, highlighting the importance of healthcare providers in promoting and improving disaster preparedness among families.
