About
This study explores how a tabletop earthquake simulation affects pediatric residents' confidence in managing earthquake victims. Residents from four programs took part, and their confidence was measured before, right after, and six months after the simulation. Results showed a significant boost in self-rated competence from 3% to 33%. While there was some improvement in handling head injuries and willingness to help in disasters, it wasn't statistically significant. The study concludes that tabletop simulations can effectively increase comfort with rare events like earthquakes and can be easily added to training programs for disaster response skills.
