This article outlines the development and testing of the Pediatric Emergency Decision Support System (PEDSS), a dynamic tool designed for pediatric victim disaster planning. The innovative approach involves automated pediatric decision support and disaster planning, focusing on Disaster Resource Centers and umbrella hospitals in Los Angeles County. Using hypothetical patients as a model, the authors developed the PEDSS software to support user interaction, data management, and critical disaster preparation issues. The tool aims to assist hospital disaster response personnel in creating and updating disaster response plans tailored to local pediatric recommendations and requirements.
