About
Disasters are a significant threat in the United States, with many individuals unprepared despite feeling otherwise. A study analyzed data from 5 states to determine factors influencing disaster preparedness. Findings showed that only 45% of respondents were objectively prepared, despite 78% feeling prepared. Factors like feeling "well prepared," having specific health conditions, being aged 55-64, and earning over $50,000 annually increased preparedness likelihood. Conversely, minorities facing affordability issues with medical care were less likely to be prepared. The study highlighted a widespread lack of disaster readiness, emphasizing income and age as key predictors of preparedness.Tags
