About
This study analyzed disaster preparedness in US households using data from the 2017 American Housing Survey. It found disparities in preparedness based on household characteristics like income, education, race, age, and region. Wealthier and older households were better prepared in terms of resources but less prepared in terms of action-based items. Black-headed households were more prepared for direct emergencies but less prepared in terms of resources. The study highlights the need for targeted strategies to improve preparedness across different communities.
