About
This article discusses a simulation exercise conducted by the Health Protection Agency involving children in a major emergency contamination event. The exercise aimed to understand how children react to terrorist attacks or hazardous incidents. Children aged six to 14 participated in the exercise without prior knowledge of the scenario, assisting in practicing decontamination procedures. Concerns about children's participation were addressed by trained adults, including nurses, police officers, and psychologists. The exercise, held in a controlled environment, assessed risks and prioritized child protection. Parents' permission was obtained, and safety measures ensured a realistic yet safe experience.
