About
This article examines the recurrent emergency room referrals and re-hospitalization of terror victims, a topic not previously explored in the literature. The study evaluated hospital services' usage post-terror events, focusing on casualties returning for hospitalization and rehabilitation. Data from a level I trauma center between October 2000 and March 2004 were analyzed, revealing that 47% of survivors were re-referred to the hospital. Recurrent hospital referral days accounted for 77% of total first hospitalization days, with severity of injury and ICU stay influencing re-hospitalization. The study emphasizes the burden on the health system and calls for further research to address recurrent referrals effectively.
