This article discusses a study on a tragic school fire in India, resulting in 93 children's deaths. It highlights the effective provincial-level management despite the absence of a well-defined disaster plan. The study analyzes factors leading to the tragedy, stakeholder responses, relief efforts, and parent satisfaction levels. Findings show overall satisfaction with the response and relief efforts. Important aspects like school safety, relief, public-private partnerships, media management, and mental health support are emphasized. While management is seen as satisfactory, there is a need for improved disaster mental health services. The study provides valuable insights for disaster managers in India.
