About
This study looked at pediatric healthcare providers' preparation efforts in regard to the COVID-19 pandemic. A global survey was conducted among pediatric simulation community members that involved 234 participants from 19 countries: Argentina, Austria, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, Italy, Latvia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and United States. Results show that preparation activities varied across regions and highlighted the shift to disease-specific and virtual training methods, with telesimulation playing a significant role in maintaining education during the pandemic. The use of real medical equipment for training varied due to shortages, and non-COVID-19 simulations continued in some areas despite challenges like staffing issues and infection concerns.
