This article examines the preparedness of emergency department staff in Israel to handle mass casualty events (MCEs) involving pediatric casualties, particularly in the context of terrorism. A review revealed a lack of training programs and uncertainty among healthcare personnel when dealing with such events. The study, involving 104 physicians and nurses, utilized a questionnaire to assess perception, approaches, and knowledge related to pediatric MCEs compared to those involving adults. Results indicated low preparedness levels for pediatric MCEs, with staff showing higher confidence in handling adult casualties. The findings suggest a need for further research to enhance preparedness for pediatric MCEs in healthcare settings.
