This study looked at how children's sleep is affected by natural disasters, focusing on survivors of Hurricane Ike in 2008 (Texas). It found that children's sleep problems persisted over time and were linked to posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS). Younger age, previous sleep problems, and posttraumatic stress were risk factors for ongoing sleep issues. PTSS were shown to influence children's sleep problems after a disaster.
