This study examines the impact of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami on child health in Aceh, Indonesia. It describes how researchers used data from over 258,000 children born between 1990 and 2017 to study changes in child mortality rates after the disaster. The findings show a rise in under-5 mortality immediately following the tsunami but no long-term effects. However, there was a decrease in deaths among children aged 1-4 years and an increase for those under one year old during certain years. The study highlights the importance of coordinated international responses to natural disasters for community resilience.
