About
This article describes a study comparing different triage tools used in emergencies to predict outcomes for injured children. The study looked at three tools: START, modified START, and CareFlight. Researchers used data from the National Trauma Data Bank to see how well these tools predicted hospital needs like surgery or admission. They found that none of the triage methods were very good at predicting what care kids would need, but CareFlight performed best overall. The results suggest that current triage systems may not be reliable for deciding treatment priorities in mass-casualty events involving children.Tags
