This case study discusses the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice Child and Family Disaster Research Training Program at the University of Washington (UWDRT). The program aimed to train researchers and clinicians, enhance disaster mental health research capacity, and improve research quality in studying disaster mental health in children and families. Despite challenges, the program led to increased awareness and knowledge among team members, better disaster and public health training, enhanced local and state disaster response preparedness, and valuable contributions to research on child and family disaster mental health.
