This article discusses a study on predicting PTSD in children and parents after accidental injuries using the STEPP tool. Conducted in the Netherlands, it involved 161 children and 156 parents. The original cut-off scores for identifying PTSD were adjusted to improve accuracy. With new scores, sensitivity increased to 82% for children and 92% for parents, but there were many false positives. The study concludes that STEPP is useful for early screening of PTSD risk in accidents but needs careful application due to high false positive rates.
