About
This study examined non-pediatric nurses' willingness to provide care to pediatric patients during a mass casualty event (MCE). It describes a survey of 289 nurses from four hospitals in the Midwest. Only 25% were ready to help kids of any age, while others preferred caring for newborns or adults. Factors like experience with young children, confidence in giving medicine, and having pediatric equipment increased willingness. It concludes that more training could help improve care for kids during emergencies and reduce harm or death when many patients need help at once.
