This report from the Research Counts series discusses how mental health can be an important factor in solving the puzzle of why people don’t prepare for disasters, with lessons from Haiti and Nepal, which have recently been devastated by a series of major disasters that are exacerbated by ongoing economic and political instability. It explores design and cultural adaptation of an intervention, and results that indicate that mental health-integrated disaster preparedness is effective.
