Children, being a vulnerable group, require specialized care during such events. The recent COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent respiratory surge highlighted both progress and obstacles in handling a surge of pediatric patients. Analyzing pediatric surge with the 4 S's (space, staff, stuff, and systems/structures) framework reveals gaps at various levels, aiding in preparedness.
